On Sunday, September 20, 2020, Shane Steven Beavers passed away suddenly at the age of 41. Shane was born on November 29, 1978 in Winchester, Virginia, and raised in Westernport, MD. He was currently residing in Cumberland, MD.

Shane graduated from Westmar High School, Class of 1997. After graduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Shane has many friends and family throughout the United States and other countries due to his time in the military.

Shane was an avid sports fan and music lover. If he wasn’t cheering for one of the WVU teams, or the Washington Capitals, he would be watching his collection of DVDs of the Drum Corp International. His favorite time of year was during March Madness. He also loved cooking and spending time with friends and family. Shane will always be remembered for his sense of humor, quick wit and infectious laugh.

Shane was preceded in death by his grandparents, Jean and Darwin Stoutamyer, grandfather, Arthur Beavers and step-grandmother, Geraldine Leary. Also his favorite aunts, Darla Saweikis and Karen Lee.

Shane is survived by his parents, Jo Ann And Kevin Jackson of McCoole and Steve and Diane Beavers of Rawlings. He is also survived by his sisters, Mandi Beavers of Westernport, Renee Latterner and partner Shawn Dunmeyer of Rawlings, and Miranda Jackson and partner Nathan Keplinger of Orange, VA. Shane is survived by his paternal grandmother, Dorothy Beavers of Westernport. Shane’s pride and joy were his nephew, Hunter Latterner and niece, Brie High. Shane leaves behind his life partner, John Western and their cats, Lowell, Liam and Alexa. Shane is also survived by many aunts, many cousins and his many friends that he cherished.

Family and friends will be received on Saturday, September 26th at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport from 12:00 to 2:45 p.m. Following the visitation, the United States Marie Corps will honor Shane for his service to the United States while in the military. The military service will be private and Shane’s family respectfully ask that friends depart the funeral home at 2:45 p.m.

A scholarship fund is being established in Shane’s name for band students that attend Mountain Ridge High School. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Shane Beaver’s Scholarship, in care of Autumn Wade, 220 Miller Street, Westernport, MD 21562.
