Robert Warnick, Sr.

February 10, 1925 — April 11, 2020

Barton

Robert Harrison Warnick, 95, of Barton, Md. passed away quietly at the Mountain City Nursing Center on April 11, 2020

Bob was born February 10, 1925, the fourth son of the late Clarence C. Warnick and Mary Frances (Broadwater) Warnick. As a boy raised on a small farm up Laurel Run; he quickly came to realize the value of hard work and the benefits of being prudent. He exhibited these traits all his life.

Bob had seven brothers. Allen, Lewis, Vernon, Eddie, Don, David and Tommy.

Bob was a proud Army veteran who spent time in Japan with the occupancy troops. He was also a USMC reserve.

On June 13, 1951, Bob married Norma Ruth Williams from Midland, Md. and started their family.

As the coal mines mechanized in the early 1950s, Bob left Maryland to find work. With his brother, Lewis he went to Detriot, Michigan to work as a laborer on a plastering crew. Bob worked as a plasterer and drywall installer until his retirement in 1998. He was an industrious,  skilled worker.

Bob and Ruth had seven children – Robert Jr (1952), Dona Louise (1953), Margaret Frances (1955), Kenneth David (1957), Rosalind Mary (1963), James Richard (1968) and Patricia Ann (1970). Bob had 15 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren along with numerous nephews and nieces.

On February 18, 1985, Ruth fell at home in Chesterfield County, MI and passed from her injuries. An unfortunate and untimely tragedy.

Bob moved from Michigan back to Laurel Run, Barton, in 1999 to be closer to his mother and family. During this time, he rekindled his family ties enjoying many hours of playing set back. Bob had a green thumb, the garden and shrubbery he planted at home thrived.  With his brothers, they started the annual Warnick family reunion, which is celebrating its 30th-anniversary this year. During these years, his friend Marie Stotler was a constant companion.

Bob was a responsible man who cared and provided for his family the best he could. As he aged, he could no longer garden, but he could ride his lawnmower, and his yard was kept perfect. He will be fondly remembered by his many friends and family.

We know we never lose the people we love. They live the rest of our lives in our hearts. We will treasure dad’s memory, and we look forward to seeing him again.

We pray that he will rest in peace in God’s hands with his relatives and friends that have gone before him.

The family would like to express our gratitude to the Veterans Administration’s HBPC team, especially Misty Cline and Judy Simpson. Your support for Dad in his last years was outstanding.

We also want to thank all of the doctors, nurses, and staff at the Western Maryland Health System. Your attention to his needs and the care you provided will never be forgotten.

Boal Funeral Home assisted the family with arrangements. A service of remembrance will be scheduled at a future date.
