Richard “Dick” Rinard, 88 of Westernport passed away on July 9, 2020 at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born July 12, 1931 in Piedmont, WV, he was the son of the late Joseph and Bernice (Dayton) Rinard. He is also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, M. June Rinard and his brother, Sonny Rinard.

Dick was Methodist by faith and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV. He was a 1949 graduate of Bruce High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran, having served during the Korean War where he was stationed in Naples, Italy and Key West, Florida. He was a member of the Keyser American Legion. Dick was a member and Past Master of the Hiram Lodge #103 A.F. & A.M. and was the Past Deputy Lecturer of the State of Maryland Lodge. Dick was a member of the York Rite and the Knights of Templar Commandery. Dick was once the branch manager at the Garrett National Bank in Bloomington and retired from the bank in 1993 after it became the American Trust Bank. Dick enjoyed working in his yard, he loved to tend to his roses, tomatoes and cucumbers. He liked working in his workshop and crafting. Dick was well known for his wonderful singing voice. Every Christmas Eve at church he proudly sang, “O’ Holy Night”.

Dick is survived by his daughters, Kim Tichnell and husband, Steve of Swanton and Diane Haines and husband, Steve of Westernport. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Clint Tichnell and wife, Lenore of Trappe, PA, Cory Beard and wife, Sarah of Cresaptown, Lee Tichnell and wife, Kristi of Swanton and Carrie Price and husband, Jason of California, MD; and great grandchildren, Brandon Tichnell and wife, Katrina, Nathan and Morgan Tichnell, Porter and Penelope “Pennie” Beard, and James and Ryan Price.

Family and friends will be received on Monday, July 13th at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.  A drive up funeral service will take place on Tuesday, July 14th at 12:00 p.m. at Chestnut Grove United Methodist Church, Swanton with Pastor Marybeth Chien officiating.

With respect to state regulations at this time, face masks must be worn and social distancing practiced while at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Philos Cemetery in Westernport with military honors accorded by the Post 13 Combined Veterans Honor Guard.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV.
