Richard Dale “Rick” Lytle, Sr, 67 of Westernport passed away peacefully on April 23, 2021 at his residence with his loving family by his side.

Born February 7, 1954, he was born to the late Dale and Gladys Lytle of Ohio and raised by the late Anthony and Maxine Barnard.

Rick was a proud United States Army Veteran. He enjoyed being in the outdoors and loved to go hunting and fishing. Rick’s favorite pastime was tinkering with cars, even during his illness he talked about fixing cars. He also had a love for all animals. Rick enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren, they were his whole world. Rick was loved by many and will be sadly missed.

Rick is survived by his wife, Martha (Preston) Lytle of Westernport; his children, Richard Lytle, Jr and wife Joanna of Kitzmiller, John Lytle and wife, Jennifer of Westernport, and Melissa Hardy and husband, Lewis of Grantsville. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Bryan Rhodes, Tiffany Yoder and husband, Jason, Daryl Reid, Austin Lytle, Douglas Lyons, Clayton Lytle, Brayden Lytle, Jace Lytle a baby boy on the way Preston Lytle; and eight great grandchildren. Rick is survived by his siblings, William Lytle of Ohio, Marilyn Shultz of Ohio, William Barnard of Maryland, Elaine Wilson of Maryland; his lifelong partner in crime, Steve Paugh; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Tuesday, April 27, 2021 from 2 to 4 p.m. A service will follow the visitation at 4:00 p.m. with Pastor Russell Liller officiating. In accordance with his wishes, Rick will be cremated following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the ASPCA, a local animal shelter, the Shriner’s Hospital for Children or Western Maryland Hospice.
