Mary Wilson

April 28, 1930 — November 22, 2020

Westernport

Mary Katherine Wilson, 90, went home with the lord in the early morning hours of November 22, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital in Cumberland MD, after a difficult battle with Covid-19.

Mary was born on April 28, 1930, in Westernport, MD, and was the daughter of the late Emory F. and Mary (Doris) Kitzmiller of Luke, MD. She was a graduate of Bruce High School. Mary lived most of her life in the Tri-Towns area. Before entering the hospital she was a resident of Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation, Inc. (formerly: The Lion's Center).  She helped her late husband Carl Wilson with Jake's Lounge and became co-owner of Jake's Service Station following his death.  Mary was a faithful member of St. Peters Church and a former choir member up until the time of her stroke in 2005. Mary's family was her life.  Very few Sundays were ever spent without family and friends at her dinner table. Everyone was always welcome. She could work all day without a care and her spirit was always younger than her years. She will always be remembered by her grandchildren as a very special grandmother. They meant the world to her. She loved hearing, playing, watching, reading, or just quietly sitting with them. No one could ever fill her place, but she will always be here in our hearts and memories.

Carl Wilson, her husband, preceded her in death in 1995, and also her brother Emory Eldon Kitzmiller. She also leaves behind two sisters Maurice Blackburn and husband Don of TX and Gloria Cleveland a resident of Hearthstone Nursing and Rehabilitation, Inc., two daughters Saundra K. Thomas and husband Lewis W. Thomas, Sr. of New Creek, WV, and Shirley Jean Wright and husband Rick Wright of Keyser, WV. She had five beloved grandchildren Chad Thomas and fiancée Monica Riggleman of New Creek, WV, Aubrey Thomas of New Creek WV, Freddie Wright of Westernport, MD, Hailey Wright and fiancé Nathan Eversole of New Creek WV, as well as Lewis W. Thomas, Jr. and wife Carol of Westernport MD. She also left behind great-grandchildren Daniel Jones, Nellie Eversole, Katie Wolf-Jones, Courtney Vandergrift, Keiley Vandergrift, Blake Dantzic, Keyrn Riggleman, and 4 great-great-grandchildren along with several nieces’, nephews, and cousins.

Due to the global pandemic, there will be no visitation or service. Mary will be privately laid to rest next to her late husband in Philos Cemetery in Westernport, MD.  A Celebration of life will be hosted at a later date by Chad and Monica at Clancy's Irish Pub.

Please direct any memorial contributions in Mary's name to St. Peter Roman Catholic Church, 127 Church St. Westernport MD 21562.
