James Hast, Jr.

James Andrew Hast Jr., 38, died suddenly of a cerebral hemorrhage on January 29, 2020 at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV

James is survived by his father, James Hast Sr.; his mother, Kathleen (McKinley) Hast of Westernport; and his brother, Matthew Hast of Hagerstown. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, Lewis and Dorothy (Wilson) Hast of Cumberland; and his grandparents, William McKinley Sr. and Marie (Ricker) McKinley of Midland.

James was born on April 8, 1981 in Cumberland, and lived for 28 years in Hagerstown before returning back to Allegany County. He graduated from North Hagerstown High School. He worked in the food service field for 22 years as a cook. He was employed by Hunter Douglas as an assembler at the time of his death.

James was an avid gamer who enjoyed playing long into the night. He was known for his quick wit and sarcastic quick comebacks. James was a non-conformist and a loner, living by his own rules and valued quiet time away from what he viewed as the bedlam of life. His family and friends will always remember him as a having an opinion on most things and to have the last laugh.

James wishes were for no funeral or viewing, his wishes were to be cremated. James was an organ donor and believed that good can come out of death. His body was donated to the CORE Program of Pittsburgh, PA, so as in death, others can live.

Boal Funeral Home, Westernport assisted the Hast family with arrangements.

The family would like to thank Western Maryland Regional Medical Center for the professionalism and care that was shown to James prior to his transport to Ruby Memorial Hospital. They would also like to thank the nurses, doctors and other staff at Ruby Memorial for the care they provided to their son, and the support through the donation process.
