Helen Nida (Biddle) Cavey, 91 of Rawlings passed away on November 2, 2021, at her residence.
Born February 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Louis and Agnes (Muir) Biddle. She was also preceded in death by her husband Andrew Cavey and an infant daughter, Wendy. Helen is preceded in death by her siblings and is the last surviving member of her immediate family.
Helen once worked at Super Shoes in Keyser and then Automated Packaging in Keyser. Helen was a 1948 graduate of Bruce High School. She was an avid bingo player and was lovingly known as “Gooch” to her family, she had a spunky personality and was quite outspoken. She was beautiful and often said to others, “you’ll never be as beautiful as I am.” Helen was the Official Mayor of Danville. Many of the neighborhood children often gathered at her home. Gooch was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
Helen is survived by her children, Darrell Cavey and wife, Charlotte, Sandra VanMeter and the late Russell VanMeter and Debra Ours and husband, John, all of Rawlings. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Karen Upperman and husband, Darin, Amy May and husband, JD, Andy VanMeter and wife, Erica, Wes Ours and wife, Alycia, Brian VanMeter and wife, Jenny, Jennifer Ours and partner, Chris Vinci; great-grandchildren, David and wife, Rachel, Brittney and husband, Robbie, Chuckie, Brandi, Kara, Tyler, Kayla, Kylee, Luke, Brady, Dylan, Hunter, Logan, Bronson, Kiana, Kaylee, Kaitlin; and eleven great-great-grandchildren. She was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, November 5th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, November 6th from 10 to 11 a.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Randy Shoemaker officiating.
Interment will take place at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
