Helen Mae Amann, 89, of Westernport, passed away on October 6, 2021 at Stonerise Health, Keyser

Born on July 16, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Earl Joseph and Annie Mae Youngblood. She is also preceded in death by her husband, Donald “Buck” Amann.

Helen began her working career at the Ellis Confectionary, followed by working at the A and P store and she eventually resigned to start a family with her husband. Helen was well known throughout the Tri-Towns area as an Avon lady. She started her career in the 60’s and worked for Avon for over 40 years. She was proud that she was a member of the Avon President’s Club, a club based on sales.

Helen was an avid bowler. She would bowl duck pins in Luke and Ladies Night on Monday’s in Keyser. Helen was well known for her sense of humor. When Helen was around there was always laughter and you knew when she was in the room because she lit it up.

She loved her grandchildren more than anything, they were her whole world. She especially enjoyed gathering with her family on Sundays for dinner. The most important thing to Helen was her family.

Helen is survived by her two sons, Donnie Amann and Steve Amann (Diana); grandchildren, Ashlee Hoppert (Brandon), Laura Amann (Justin), Carissa Smith (Gary), Britney Amann (Michael); great grandchildren, Brandon Hoppert, Auston Wempe, Macklen Hoppert, Lincoln Patterson, Bella Hoppert, Brooks Patterson, Camden Smith; and daughter-in-law, Diana Johnson Amann.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday, October 9th from 5 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place at the funeral home on Sunday, October 10th at 1:00 p.m. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

Honorary pallbearers are Dave Grove, Justin Patterson, Brandon Hoppert, Gary Smith, Brandon Hoppert II, Michael Wempe and Auston Wempe.

The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions be directed to the George’s Creek Soccer Club c/o M & T Bank.

Helen’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Stonerise Health, Keyser for the excellent care provided to Helen while she was a resident.
