Harold Smith

Luke, MD

Harold Lee Smith, 81 of Luke and most recently of Westernport went to be with the Lord on February 7, 2020.

Born August 30, 1938, he was the son of the late Loy and Mary “Elsie” (Ritchie) Smith. He was also preceded in death by his siblings, Raymond Smith, Paul Smith, Donald Smith, and Betty Friend, two infant brothers and three infant sisters.

Harold was a 1957 graduate from Bruce High School. He was very proud of his service as a United States Navy Veteran and fondly recalled his time aboard his destroyer the U.S.S. Steinaker He worked and retired from Westvaco after 37 years. Harold enjoyed being in the outdoors. He was also an avid reader. But above all his favorite thing to do was spending time with his wife, family and especially loved being with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Agnes (Hamilton) Smith; his children, Michael Smith and wife Sherry of Keyser, WV, Larry Smith and wife Rachel of Falls Church, VA and Nancy Baer and husband Ray of Westernport, MD. His grandchildren, Jonah, Thomas, Kristen, Samantha, TJ, Stephanie and Shane; three great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD on Monday, February 10th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Tim Bittinger officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
