Esther Naomi (Loar) Wiland, 93 of Lonaconing went home on April 18, 2021 to be with her Lord and Savior, whom she faithfully served.

Born April 28, 1927, she was the daughter of the late William and Desdemona (Powell) Loar. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin on December 1, 2020; her brothers, George, John, and Wesley; and her sisters, Rose Loar, Julia Loar, Anna Loar, Mary Llewellyn and Ella Rae Fazenbaker.

Esther was a homemaker and also was the number one helper to her husband Melvin in their home improvement business. She was a member of the Frostburg Assembly of God Church for over 50 years and a member of the First Assembly of God Church in Lonaconing for the past eight years.

Esther was a hard worker and had a talent for many things. Her hobbies were sewing, crocheting, and refinishing furniture. She also loved to read, especially Grace Livingstone Hill books.

Esther greatly missed her husband Melvin after almost 75 years of marriage. He had been her caregiver for around twelve years. They spent their last few years mostly at home together watching television and telling stories from their early days of marriage.

She was an avid ‘tea drinker’ and loved having tea parties with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. No matter what, Grandma Esther would drop everything and heat up the teapot.

Esther is survived by her children, Melvin Wiland, Jr. and wife, Barbara, John Wiland and wife, Diana, Linda Gordon and husband Gary, and Barbara Maust and husband, Paul. Esther is survived by her grandchildren, Stephanie Hottinger, Marsha Wilson, Karen Harvey, Julia Wiland, Kenny Gray, Tina Goss, Mary Gray, Doreen Haggerty, Devina Greise, Destiny Willison, Carrie Pifer, Laurie Poole, Nathan Maust and Jonathan Maust; her thirty nine great grandchildren, nine great-great grandchildren, a special nephew, Bob Fazenbaker, as well as many other nieces and nephews. Esther was the longest living and last surviving member of her immediate family.

Family and friends will be received on Thursday, April 22nd from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Liberty Christian Fellowship, 14200 McMullen Highway, Cresaptown, MD. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 5:00 p.m. with her son Melvin Wiland, Jr. officiating.
