Edna Arthur

Edna Elizabeth (Ruppert) Arthur of Westernport, MD passed away on December 22, 2019 at the Egle Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Lonaconing, MD.

She was born on September 11, 1921 to the late Ernest Peter and Ada Catherine (Drewnoski) Ruppert in Cumberland.

Edna married Carl Wesley Arthur on March 22, 1945 in Norfolk VA.  They were married for 73 years until his death on August 19, 2018. She worked for the Board of Education in the cafeteria at Westernport Elementary School from 1957 and retired in 1978. Edna was a member of the Kingdom Hall in McCoole, MD and was very devoted to her faith and Jehovah.  She had a “green thumb” and had many beautiful flowers and a garden every year with a variety of foods that she canned.  She loved animals and never turned away a hungry cat or dog.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Marie Garlick and Nova Wenrick.  She is survived by one sister, Gretchen Brown of Woodbridge, Va.

She was a dear and kind aunt and loved all her nieces and nephews.  She was loved by all and will be deeply missed.  She also loved her Egle Nursing Center family.

Friends and family will be received at Boal Funeral Home on December 26th at 12:00 to 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will follow at 2:00 pm and will be officiated by an elder of the McCoole Jehovah Witness Kingdom Hall.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery.
