Charles Martin Carpenter, 102, of Westernport passed away on January 25, 2022.

Born August 18, 1919 in Piedmont, WV, he was the son of the late George and Nellie (VanPelt) Carpenter. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Angela (Winner) Carpenter; and his siblings, Kathleen, Delores, Anna Lee, William, Kenneth, Lawrence, Richard and Ronald.

Charles was a United States Army Air Corp WWII Veteran. Charles was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church, Westernport.  He was a 1938 graduate of Bruce High School. Charles worked at Westvaco and retired after 45 years of employment. He enjoyed staying busy in his workshop and tinkering.

Charles is survived by his niece and caregiver, Mary K. Stanton of Westernport; great niece and caregiver, Amy Stanton of Westernport; nieces, Betty Stanton of Midland; niece, Patricia O’Haver of Greencastle, PA; nephew, Dana G. Stanton and wife, Jodi of Midland; as well as other numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes, Charles will be cremated.

A memorial mass will take place at Divine Mercy Parish- St. Peter Catholic Church, Westernport on Monday, January 31st at 11:00 a.m. with Father Eric Gauchat as celebrant.

Mr. Carpenter’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Stonerise of Keyser and Dr. Bokil for their compassionate care and kindness while he was a resident.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be directed to Divine Mercy Parish- St. Peter Catholic Church, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, MD 21532 or the Tri-Towns EMS, 59 Main Street, Westernport, MD 21562.

Mr. Carpenter is in the care of Boal Funeral Home, Westernport.
