Arbutus Debouck

October 22, 1935 — February 22, 2020

Westernport

Arbutus Eleanor (Llewellyn) DeBouck crossed over into Heaven on Feb. 22, 2020. She was 84 years old. At the time of her death, she was living with her daughter in Virginia.

Born on Oct. 22, 1935, in Lonaconing (an at-home birth on Jackson Mountain), the sixth child of Herbert Phillip and Sarah Gertrude Llewellyn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alvin Charles; her son, Donald; her sisters, Hilda and Naomi; and her brothers, "Sonny Boy" (a toddler at his death), Everett and Stephen. She is survived by her loving daughter, Linda (Gary); much loved granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth; her son, Roy; her brothers, Porter and John; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

She graduated from Valley High School, moved to Bowling Green and then Potomac Park. She was a homemaker, an avid gardener, a bowler in those early years, and loved to bake and decorate her home for every holiday. Her door was always open to family and friends. Some of her fondest memories included fixing large meals for family, baking Christmas cookies, and making Easter candy. In the seventies, she put her artistic talents to work and has left behind some much treasured artwork. She was employed by Schwab Manufacturing; and later ventured into the world of pet grooming, encouraged and trained by her son, Donald, who was working as a pet groomer and veterinary assistant. She devoted her later years to being a dedicated mother, grandmother and friend. She tried to help everyone she cared about, at times, to her own detriment, but now she has gained her so richly deserved reward. She was much-loved and will be greatly missed! Mom, you have well-earned your place in Heaven!

"Do not stand at my grave and weep. I am not there; I do not sleep. I am a thousand winds that blow. I am the diamond glints on snow. I am the sunlight on ripened grain. I am the gentle autumn rain. When you awaken in the morning's hush I am the swift uplifting rush Of quiet birds in circled flight. I am the soft stars that shine at night. Do not stand at my grave and cry; I am not there; I did not die."

Family and friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday, Feb. 29, 2020, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a visitation. Interment will be at Rest Lawn Memorial Gardens, LaVale.
