William "Bill" Welsh

William Welsh, 79, of Bloomington, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, July 17, 2013.  Bill had been a patient at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV, where he received excellent care.
Bill was born September 5, 1933 in Westernport.  He was the son of the late Carl and Thelma (Matthew) Welsh.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Vincent T. Welsh of Baltimore, Carl Welsh of Florida and a sister Susan Moler of Blackwood, NJ.
Bill leaves behind his wife of 60 years, Dessie (Mitter) Welsh, one son, William Welsh and daughter-in-law Linda of Oakland, one daughter, Sally McClintock of Bloomington and son-in-law James McClintock of Westernport, one grandson, Chris Welsh of Oakland, two granddaughters, Brooke McClintock and Destinee McClintock of Bloomington, one brother, Frank Welsh and wife Florence of Keyser, WV.  Bill has many nieces and nephews.
Bill served in the United States Army from 1953-1955.  He worked for one year at the B & O Railroad and was then employed by Westvaco Corporation for 40 years.  He began there in the Labor Pool and retired as Pulp Mill Supervisor.  Bill was a devoted and active member of the Bloomington United Methodist Church.  He was also instrumental in the founding of the Bloomington Awareness Group where he gave unselfishly of his time and energy to plan and carry out community activities particularly Bloomington Days.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #155 of Westernport.
Bill was a loving and devoted husband, father and grandfather.  He never met a stranger and had many, many friends.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Bloomington United Methodist Church on Saturday at 12:00 PM, with Rev. Gary Rankin officiating and Rev. Mark Hickman assisting.  The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to service.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Bloomington United Methodist Church, Knight St, Bloomington, MD 21523.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to friend Kitty Mills and brother, Frank Welsh and wife Florence for their devoted time given to Bill during his illness.
