William L. “Bill” Lannon, 77, of Moorefield, WV, passed away at his residence on Friday, January 8, 2021.
Born on April 27, 1943, in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late Leo W. and Louise Lannon. He was Catholic by faith. He graduated from St. Peters Catholic School in Westernport, MD in 1961. After graduation. He enlisted in the United States Navy to serve and see the world.
He is precede in death by his parents, Leo and Louise, daughter, April, his wife, Beverly “Jean”, brother, Joey, grandson, Mark, and nephew, Leo.
Bill was a U.S. Navy Veteran who proudly served his country. He served on the “Ice Breaker” USS Edisto (AGB-2), and the aircraft carrier, USS Saratoga (CV-60).
After he left the service, he returned home and took a position with the Westvaco Pulp and Paper Mill until he retired. He was a member of the Westernport Legion Post 155, and the Moorefield VFW.
Bill enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, and gardening. He also loved history and enjoyed to tell everyone about his Navy adventures.
Bill is survived by three children, Eric Lannon of Moorefield, WV, Denise Lannon- Amoruso and husband, Joe of Westernport, MD, and Michelle Lannon of Westernport, MD. He is also survived by his brother, Pat and wife, Glenda Lannon of Sherr, WV, his special friend, Barbara “Peachie” Clayton and sister-in-law, Rachel. Bill had 6 grandkids, 4 great-grandkids, several nephews, and his beautiful angle, Paige who was always by his side.
In respecting Bill’s wishes, he will be cremated and will be interred at Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV. There will be no public viewing or funeral services. A family and veteran memorial will be held at a later date.
