William L. Zais Jr., 70 of Warnick Ave, Bloomington, passed away Monday November 28, 2016 at his residence after a courageous battle with cancer.

Born June 12, 1946 in Keyser, WV, he was the son of the late William L. Zais Sr., and the late Ellen V. (Shears) Zais Nesbit.  He was also preceded in death by a brother, Gary Zais.

Bill was a 1964 graduate of Bruce High School.  He was a United States Army Veteran having served in Korea during the Vietnam Era.  He retired from Virginia Power, Mt. Storm, as a maintenance supervisor and outage planner.  Bill was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church, Piedmont, WV, having served as a Trustee and was always helpful with the church soup sales.  He was also a member of Queens Point V.F.W. #6775, McCoole, and a member of the former Upper Potomac Jaycees and was an avid hunter, fisherman and enjoyed golfing.  Bill also served as coach for the Tri-Towns pee wee football and baseball leagues.

He leaves behind his beloved wife of 48 years, Doris (Warnick) Zais, three sons, Jared Zais and wife, Ruth Anne of Bloomington, Todd Zais and wife Samantha of Parsons, WV, Nicholas Zais and wife Jessica of Cumberland, three brothers, Terry Zais of Keyser, WV, Danny Zais and wife Glenda of New Creek, WV, Brian Nesbit and partner, Kelly Ayers of Morgantown, WV, a sister, Patricia McDonald and husband Jody of Keyser, WV, six grandchildren, Nathan and Brandon Zais, Isabella and Abigail Zais, Gabrielle Zais and Cecily Zais.  He is also survived by his step grandchildren, Kristen, Nicholas and Jacob Downing, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday, December 2nd from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

A funeral service will be conducted at Trinity United Methodist, Piedmont, WV, on Saturday, December 3rd at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Steve Grimes officiating, with a visitation at the church one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, where military honors will be accorded at graveside.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Bill’s memory may be directed to his nephew, Sloan Nesbit, age 19, a Leukemia cancer patient at Ruby Memorial Hospital, C/O Nicholas Zais/Sloan Nesbit Benefit Account, M & T Bank, 51 Main St, Westernport, MD  21562, or the Trinity United Methodist Church, Jones St, Piedmont, WV  26750.

The family would like to extend special thanks to the National Institute of Health, Bethesda, for the care and compassion given to Bill during his stay there .
