William Secrist

William Harrison Secrist, 78 of Rt. 1, Keyser, went to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 26, 2014.

Born on February 15, 1936 in Mount Zion, he was the son of the late Virgil Andrew and Ida Pearl (Brown) Secrist. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Norma Jean (Maynard) Secrist, a daughter Patricia Jean Secrist, a grandson Brian Richard Secrist and three brothers, Andrew George Secrist, Virgil Junior Secrist and Melvin Richard Secrist.

Mr. Secrist worked as a coal miner. He was an avid fisherman and hunter and enjoyed the outdoors. He loved to spend time with his family while camping at the South Branch River.

He is survived by his four children, Richard William Secrist and wife Rebecca of Wana, Sandra Kay Richards and husband John of Texas, Jo Ann Moore and friend Kenny Nutter of Keyser and Donald Allen Secrist and wife Kay of Ridgeley. He is survived by thirteen grandchildren and two great granddaughters. Mr. Secrist is also survived by his siblings, Roger Secrist and wife Darlene of Petersburg, Kenny Secrist and wife Betty of Jane Lew, Wanda Secrist of Oakland, MD, Martha Beavers and husband Elwood of Westernport, MD, Betty Kidwell and husband Tom of Martinsburg, Wilma Howdyshell and husband Paul of Shalmar, MD, Lilly Moats and husband Wayne of Crellin, MD, Kathy Elliot and husband Terry of Kitzmiller, MD, Mary Harvey and husband Ellis of Elk Garden and Linda Shillingburg of Terra Alta. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, and a special niece, Connie Hesse, who took loving care of him.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 pm and 7 to 9 pm. A funeral service will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 1:00 pm with Pastor William O’Haver and Rev. Brock Moore officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery, Swanton, MD.
