William Porter

William Raymond Porter, 87, of Potomac Hollow Road, Barton, passed away Monday, September 30, 2013 at his residence.

Born April 21, 1926 in Barton, he was the son of the late Joseph and Arvada (Moore) Porter.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis (Muir) Porter, three brothers, Hugh, Marvin, and Kenneth Porter, and a sister, Wilma Broadwater.

Mr. Porter was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II.  He was retired from the Chessie Railroad having been a brakeman.  Mr. Porter was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Barton.

He was the last surviving of his immediate family as he leaves behind several nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Memorial Chapel on Friday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Dallas Bunch officiating.

Interment will be in Mt. View Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
