William Chester “Bill” Fazenbaker, 85, of the Grandview Apartments, Westernport, passed away Thursday, March 7, 2013 at his residence.
Born May 24, 1927 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Albert S. “Shorty” and Irene R. (Stuby) Fazenbaker. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Alvin and Donald Fazenbaker and one sister, Leonelda Farris. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Bill attended Bruce High School. He was a United States Army Veteran, having served during World War II. He previously worked at the Celanese Fibers Corp., also Moran Coal as a truck driver, a school bus driver, drove a taxi cab for Kelly Cab Co. a bartender at Victory Post American Legion, before eventually retiring from Westvaco Corporation as a security guard. He was a first responder and ambulance driver at Westvaco also. He was a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport, and had served as custodian at the church. Bill was a life member of Victory Post #155 American Legion. He enjoyed walking, swimming, bingo and golfing, and was a member of the Mill Creek Golf Seniors.
He was a loving father and grandfather as he leaves behind four daughters, Sue Rinker and husband Terry of Keyser, WV, Paula Knott and husband Don of Ellicott City, “Kitty” Wilson and husband John “Turk” of Keyser WV, Gina Nesmith and husband Gary of Short Gap, WV, and two grandchildren, Katlynn MacDonald and Logan Nesmith. He is also survived by his “tall red headed daughter” Debbie Nesmith and husband Leo, a special family friend, Dawn Wolfe, friends at Grandview Apts., special ladies at Ponderosa, and nieces and nephews.
Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 2 to 5 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Sally Bartling officiating.
