Wanda Arthur

Wanda Elizabeth (Lancaster) Arthur, 94, of Healy Heights, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2016 at Piney Valley Nursing Center, Keyser.

Born June 15, 1922 near Barnum, she was the daughter of the late John Benjamin Harrison Lancaster and the late Isadora Elizabeth “Dora” (Abernathy) Lancaster.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Hollie Dale Arthur in 2001, two brothers, Theodore, who died at birth, and John Kenneth Junior Lancaster.

Wanda grew up in Cross, WV.  She graduated from Elk Garden High School in 1941.  After high school she worked at the Celanese Fibers Corp.  She married her husband, Hollie in 1946 and then moved to Westernport, MD, until they travelled to Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey for Hollie’s work.  Wanda worked at Western Electric.  They returned in 1957 to buy the family farm, where she had dairy cows and sold milk to the Carnation Company in Oakland, MD.  They were happily married for over 54 years.

She leaves behind a daughter, Patricia Droppleman and husband James of Keyser, three step children, John Arthur and wife Sylvia of High Springs, FL, Reba Jean Deremer and husband Joe of Barton, MD, and Hollie Samuel Arthur and wife Jackie of Burlington, three grandchildren, John Droppleman and wife Christine of New Creek, James Droppleman and wife Tammie of Madison, AL, Kristi Cassada and husband Edward of Oakland, MD, six great grandchildren, Kaitlin, Jared, Sydney, Brody and Riley Droppleman and Olivia Cassada, and numerous step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Linda, Kenneth, and James Lancaster and wife Jerri, Janet Simmons and husband Edgel, and Marian Droppleman.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, MD, on Friday, October 21st from 6 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 22nd at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Kenneth Mason officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser.
