Virginia E. Miller, 99, formerly of Wood St, Westernport, and most recently of Piney Valley Nursing Center, Keyser, WV, passed away Saturday December 10, 2016 at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV.

Born November 22, 1917 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late George R. and Carrie (Biddle) Gales. She was also preceded in death by her husband in 1982, Harry E. Miller, a granddaughter, Heather Sue McKenzie, and a brother, Edward J. Biddle.

Virginia was a member of the Westernport United Methodist Church.  Her church family affectionately called her “Ma Ginny”.  She served on the church council, taught Sunday school and Bible school.  She especially enjoyed helping with the soup sales, candy sales and the many dinners.

She leaves behind her daughter, Virginia “Tootie” McKenzie and husband Bill of Westernport, and a sister-in-law, Gloria Miller of Odenton.  She is also survived by many special friends, Barbara Fisher, “Wig” Pratt, Janie MacDonald, Mike, Dena, and Emily Gurtler, Eleanor Wilson, Tim and Tammy Kady, and Mike Lease.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Tuesday, December 13th from 4 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Wednesday, December 14th at 2:00 PM, with Pastor Sandy Cowan officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.

Many thanks to the staff and workers of Piney Valley.  Their kindness was outstanding.  A special thank you to Mom’s roommate, Katherine Zernell and her wonderful family.
