Vernon Fazenbaker Sr.

Swanton, MD

Vernon Oliver Fazenbaker Sr., 79, of Maryland Highway, Swanton, passed away Friday May 23, 2014 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.

Born October 9, 1934 in Garrett County, he was the son of the late Ernest and Florence (Warnick) Fazenbaker.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Eulah Mary (Broadwater) Fazenbaker, four brothers, Richard, Robert, Tommy, and Manny Fazenbaker and a sister, Clara Madison.

Vernon was a well-known auto mechanic, having owned F & S Garage.  He was Baptist by faith.

He leaves behind one son, Vernon Fazenbaker Jr. and wife Gale of Barton, three daughters, Eulah Susie Smeltzer and husband Bill of Swanton, Cheryl Lewis and husband Brian of Klondike, and Amy Kniesley, four brothers, Junior Fazenbaker of Westernport, Jack Fazenbaker of Westernport, LeRoy Fazenbaker of Pennsylvania, and Donnie Fazenbaker of Pennsylvania.  He is also survived by five grandchildren, Stacey Broadwater and husband Casey, Tara Fazenbaker, Mary Keller and husband Jeremiah, Melissa Smeltzer and Richard, and Michelle Friend and husband Travis, and thirteen great grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, May 26th from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Tuesday May 27th at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Steffan Carr officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
