Thomas Cecil Neat, 81, of Takoma Drive, Barton, passed away Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at Moran Manor Nursing Center, Westernport.

Born August 4, 1933 in Moscow, he was the son of the late Cecil and Laura (Wilson) Neat.  He was also preceded in death by a sister, Mildred Martin.

Tom was a 1952 graduate of Barton High School.  During his earlier years he was the projectionist at the Barton movie theater.  He worked in the Pennsylvania steel mills, before eventually retiring with 38 years of service at Allegany Ballistics as a Master Technician in the Product/Quality Engineering Division.  He was a member of Barton Presbyterian Church, where he was an elder, trustee and usher.  Tom liked walking, reading, big band music, dogs and trains.

He leaves behind his wife of 56 years, Kathleen (Wilson) Neat, two sons, Thomas Neat II of Barton, Charles Neat and companion “El” of Lonaconing, one sister, Anna Clark of Frostburg, two grandchildren, Lee Neat and companion Amy, Ashley Neat and companion Drew, and two great grandchildren, Sammy and Seth.  He is also survived by a nephew, Tim Martin and wife Tammy.

At Mr. Neat’s request, he was cremated.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Saturday, February 28th from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM.

A private service will be held at a later date.
