Thelma Thomas

Frostburg, MD

Thelma Katherine Thomas, 69, formerly of Burton Park Drive, Frostburg, and most recently of Frostburg Village Nursing Home, passed away Wednesday, December 19, 2012 at the nursing center.

Born December 11, 1943 in Allegany County, she was the daughter of the late Clay Francis and Thelma Katherine (Andrews) Green.  She was also preceded in death by her husband John Thomas and a brother, Lester Green.

Mrs. Thomas was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton.  She was retired from the Finan Center and had worked at J & T Homes as a receptionist, where she was formerly co-owner with her husband.

She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother as she leaves behind three sons, John Robert Thomas and wife Jennifer of Cresaptown, Steve Thomas and wife Janet of Lonaconing, Shawn Thomas and wife Lauren of St. Thomas USVI, and a daughter, Dena Winner and husband Leonard “Bud” of Frostburg.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Justin, Sarah, Matthew, and Emily Thomas and Cassie Winner.

There will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton, on Saturday, December 22nd, at 11:00 AM, with Father Edward Hendricks as celebrant.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, Greater Maryland Chapter, Western Maryland Region, 108 Byte Drive, Suite 103, Frederick, MD 21702

The family would like to extend special thanks to Frostburg Village Nursing (New Horizons Unit) for the loving care provided to her during her stay there.
