Thelma June Broadwater, 92 of Bowling Street, Cumberland, formerly of Mill Run Road, Barton passed away on October 16, 2019 at her residence with her family by her side.

Born on June 10, 1927 in Hancock, she was the daughter of the late Hubert and Grace Manning. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 60 plus years, Marvin Marshall Broadwater; two brothers, Homer Manning, Diz Manning; her sister, Lucille Flowers; her mother-in-law, Mary Flowers; two brothers-in-law, Frank Billy Broadwater, Harry Buddy Broadwater; a sister-in-law, Norma Broadwater; and a granddaughter, Marsha Elaine Broadwater.

June, as she liked to be called, was a waitress at the Park In Dine in Hancock for several years before marrying Marvin and becoming a stay at home Mom and raising her children. She was a member of the Barton Post #189 American Legion. She loved to cook, loved family get-togethers and going to the Casino with her son and nephew, Luke. She loved to shop and buy for people. June would give you the shirt off of her back if you needed it. She enjoyed going to her good friends, Diane and Mike Perrin’s home for the holidays. She thought of them as family and enjoyed being with their children. Her good neighbor, Ann Carroll and family were very special to June, always helping any time they could.

June is survived by her children, Stanley Broadwater and wife, Margie of Barton, Pete Broadwater and wife, Barbara of Mill Run, Jesse Broadwater and wife, Linda of Frostburg, Diane Hamilton and husband, Virgil of Rawlings and Belinda Valentine and partner Paul of Garrett, PA. June is also survived by her grandchildren, Brian Broadwater, Luke Broadwater, Josh Broadwater and wife, Jana, Jesse “JR” Broadwater and Kathy, Casey Broadwater and wife, Stacy, Cindy Wilt and husband, Allan, Robbie Hamilton and Tara, Jamie Hamilton and Jessica, Stacey Host and Thomas, Jessica Lupis and Matthew, Ashley Lewis and husband Fred;  her sister-in-law, Ruby Broadwater; and a special little boy, David Faidley. She is also survived by 20 great grandchildren and several other friends and family that she loved.

June’s family is especially grateful and thankful to Western Maryland Hospice for their excellent care and compassion that was shown to their Mom.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton on Friday, October 18th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, October 19th at 1:00 pm with the Pastor Thomas Morgan officiating. There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service from 12 to 1 p.m.

Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Western Maryland Hospice.
