Sylvan Martin Llewellyn, 83, of Engine House Row, Lonaconing, passed away Sunday, December 11, 2016 at his residence.  He died from kidney failure.

Born October 12, 1933 in Barton, he was the son of the late Dewey C. and Nellie (Broadwater) Llewellyn.  He was also preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Mary Lou (Gardner) Llewellyn, his sisters, Juanita Miller, Laverne Kyle, Virginia Duckworth, Leona Miller and Lillian Hartman, and his brothers, Dewey C. Llewellyn Jr., Francis “Lattie” Llewellyn and Gene Elton Llewellyn.  He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Mr. Llewellyn retired from J & L Steel in Aliquippa, PA.  He liked country music and playing his guitar.  He also loved NASCAR and he was a great storyteller.

He is survived by and lovingly remembered by his sons, Duane Llewellyn and spouse Mary, Keith Llewellyn and spouse Lisa, and Jerry Llewellyn and spouse Krista, his daughters, Connie Steinweg and spouse Duane, Sherry Bittinger and spouse Joseph, Diane Darr, and Dorothy Llewellyn, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great grandchildren.  With special thanks from the family to grandson, Shane Elliott, for all of his hard work and help with Sylvan over the years, and thanks to Hope Elliott for all of her care during his illness.

At Mr. Llewellyn’s request, he was cremated.

A memorial service for friends and family will be conducted at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Friday, December 16th at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Fred Iser officiating.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to service for friends and family from 12 to 1 PM.

Inurnment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.
