Stephen Paul Brashear

Stephen Paul Brashear, 62 of Westernport passed away on August 26, 2023 at his home with his loving wife, Donna at his side.

Born December 17, 1960, he was the son of the late Paul “Ike” and Barbara (Syromi) Brashear. He is also preceded in death by his mother and father-in-law, John Smith and Donna Smith; and brother-in-law Jeff Williams.

Steve enjoyed fishing and shooting pool. He was known as the “Mushroom King” because he loved to hunt for mushrooms and spent many hours in the woods with his good friend, Chuck Crawford. Steve previously worked for ARJ Construction.

Steve loved his dog Benji. He was kind hearted, he never had an enemy, and was always making others laugh. He was a true fighter and fought hard for as long as his body would allow.  Steve was the love of his wife Donna’s life who was always by his side. His wife, family and friends will miss him dearly.  

Steve is survived by his loving wife of 24 years, Donna (Smith) Brashear. He is also survived by his children Jordan Brashear and Kirstin Jackson. He is survived by his grandchildren, Laurie, Peyton, Morgan, Chase, Mason, Ava and Hudson. Steve was a bonus Dad to Jeremy Thomas and fiancée Molly, and Shanna McDowell and husband Micah. Steve was a brother to Debra Williams, Kim Bradley and husband Francis, Clint Brashear, who he was very close to, and wife Cheryl, and Charity Francis and husband Tony. He was also survived by many friends, and numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

A memorial gathering will take place on Friday September, 1^st at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport from 4 to 7 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow the gathering at 7:00 p.m.

The Brashear family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to UPMC Western Maryland Hospice for their excellent care and especially to nurse Corrine who took such great care of Steve. Donna would also like to thank special friends, Fred and Peggy Tetenburn for everything that they have done for her and Steve.
