Simon Farris

Simon Richard Farris, 79, of Westernport passed away on September 1, 2013 at his residence.

Born in Barnum, WV he was the son of the late Simon and Vera (Dixon) Farris. He is also preceded in death by his wife Mona Jean (Springer) Farris and two sons, Gary Wayne and Richard Farris.

Mr. Farris was a United States Army Veteran, serving in both the Korean War and Operation Desert Storm. He was a member of the 372nd Military Police Company. Mr. Farris worked at Westvaco for 36 years.

He is survived by his children; Steven Farris and Teresa of Frostburg, Kathy Miller and Benny of Avilton, Linda Farris of Westernport and Rebecca Kooken and Robert of Reading, PA. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Andrew Farris, April Gerhart and Nick, Amy Twigg and Jimmy Lee, Sarah Kooken and Neil Cox, Adam Miller, Matthew Farris, Mark Miller; and great grandchildren; Addison Gerhart, Aiden Gerhart, Landon Cox and Justin Twigg.

Family and friends will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Wednesday, September 4th from 2 to 4 PM and 7 to 9 PM. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 5th in the funeral home at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dianne May officiating.
