Samuel Metz, 95, of Barton passed away on November 7, 2023.

 

Born November 25, 1927 he was the son of the late Samuel and Leona (Hartman) Metz. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Metz; and two brothers Paul Metz and Luther Metz.

 

Sam was a United States Army Veteran. He was a devoted Christian. Sam retired from Kelly Springfield Tire Company where he worked for many years. Following his retirement, he worked for several local car dealerships as a service manager. He was a Lifetime Member of the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad, where he served as different positions within the organization. Sam played a large roll in erecting the Veteran’s memorial in Franklin. He took on the responsibility of securing the land, as well as the general upkeep of the property.

 

Sam never met a stranger, he could carry on a conversation with about anyone- and he did. He was always ready and willing to help anyone. He enjoyed his meals out with his friends and family. Sam will be missed by his family and community.

 

Sam is survived by his children, Bruce Metz and wife Sharon, Carolyn Raines and husband Buzz, Patty McIntyre and husband Stenton and Susie Fair and husband Marty; and sister, Carol Spiker. Sam is survived by twelve grandchildren, thirty-one great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

 

In accordance with Sam’s wishes there will be no services. Interment will be at Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad.

 

Mr. Metz is in the care of Boal Funeral Home.
