Ruth Ann (Broadwater) Swope, 65 of Westernport passed away on December 30, 2022 at the Hampshire Center in Romney, WV.
Born October 19, 1957 at Keyser, WV, she was the daughter of Norma Lee (Moorehead) Broadwater and the late Harold Lynn Broadwater in 2012. She was preceded in death by her daughter, Ashley Nicole Willis in 2003; and a grandson, Brycen Gene Willis in 2010.
Ruth was a 1975 graduate of Bruce High School. She received her LPN certificate from the Mineral County Vo-tech nursing program in 1994. She held various nursing jobs and at some points would work at two or three jobs. She worked at the Hampshire Center in Romney for 28 years. She also worked at Devlin Manor, Cumberland, Private Nursing Care, Front Royal, VA, Dawn View, Fort Ashby, WV, Piney Valley, Keyser, WV.
Ruth enjoyed going to yard sales and getting good deals. She loved shopping and flowers. Ruth liked to decorate for every holiday, her favorite being Halloween and Christmas. Ruth’s love language was giving to her family and friends. She would give you the shirt off of her back if need be.
Along with her mother Norma, Ruth is survived by her husband, Jeffrey Swope; children, Autumn Bozzo and husband Dan of Frederick, April Lease of Westernport, Amber Lease-Gordon of Westernport, Alicia Willis of Westernport and Austin Willis of Frostburg. Ruth is survived by 17 grandchildren, Andrew, Monica, Emily, Darrian, Cameron, Ethan, Ashton, Addison, Maddox, Bella, Piper, Scarlet, Ashlyn, Carson, Deegan, Owen, Olivia; and one great grandson, Connor. She is also survived by her siblings, Karen Broadwater of Towson, Sharon Wolfe and husband Dennis of Bloomington, James Broadwater of Keyser, WV, Nancy Kroll and husband Steve of Bloomfield Hills, MI; and numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, January 6th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will follow the visitation at 1:00 p.m.
Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
Ruth’s family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Schwab Family Cancer Center, Dr. Zaman, and the UPMC Oncology Department for their kind, compassionate care. Also thank you to Ruth’s work family at the Hampshire Center for their loving care shown to Ruth during her last weeks.
