Westernport
Rose Marie (Taylor) Naughton, 87, formerly of Westernport and most recently of Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing, passed away there on Wednesday, November 23, 2016.
Born September 13, 1929 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Wesley and Margaret Ann (O’Neill) Taylor. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, James G. Naughton, Jr., her granddaughter, Shelley Lynne McDowell, her brothers John, James, Joseph, Robert and Daniel Taylor and her sisters Margaret Everline, Sister Perpetua Taylor and Sister Alma Dolorine Taylor.
Rose was a 1947 graduate of St. Peter’s High School and a faithful member of St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport where she served as a volunteer in many capacities. She was a long time cashier at Kenny’s Market, Westernport until her retirement.
Rose was the loving mother of six children and leaves behind, Nina Clark and husband Chuck of Westernport, Jim Naughton and wife Carol of Keyser, WV, Diane McDowell and husband Terry of Westernport, MD, Michael Naughton and wife Lisa of Westfield, IN, Pamela Lowe and husband Tim of Annapolis, MD and Lisa Belland and husband Bruce of High Point, NC. She is also survived by her sister Catherine Rice of Keyser, WV, 10 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren whom she adored. Rose was a kind, caring and generous woman with a quick wit. She made an impression on all of those who knew her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Her legacy of love and faith lives on in all of us.
A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Peters Catholic Church, Westernport, on Saturday, November 26 at 1:00 PM. Father Ed Hendricks will officiate. Friends and family will be received at the church before the funeral between 12:00 and 1:00 PM. Per Rose’s request, she will be cremated. Interment will be at Philos Cementary, Westernport. Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, is in charge of arrangements.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Divine Mercy Parish. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to the staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab, Lonaconing for their outstanding care of Rose during her residency there.
