Robert "Bob" Kertesz

Westernport, MD

Robert Kertesz, 86 of Westernport passed away on January 19, 2023.

Born on September 6, 1936, he was the son of the late Charles and Edna (Fazenbaker) Kertesz.

Bob is survived by his loving wife, Elizabeth A. “Liz” (Amann) Kertesz; his children, Kevin Kertesz and his wife, Teri and Julie Eyler; and a grandson, Jared Eyler.

Bob was a 1956 graduate of Bruce High School. He was a United States Navy Veteran. He was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. Bob retired from Westvaco in 1999 after 40 years of employment. At the time of his retirement, he had worked his way up to the #8 paper machine supervisor.

Bob and his wife Liz owned a home at the Alpine Lake Resort in Tera Alta, WV. They made many memories in that home and met many friends within the community. He was an avid golfer and had several holes in one. Bob was a member of the Alpine Lake Resort Carpenter’s Club. He was a skilled carpenter and was known for building hobby horses. Bob was always doing things for others. If his wife or friends would have an idea for a project that may have been difficult to achieve, he would respond with, “I don’t see why not.” Bob was generous with his time and talents.

Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Tuesday, January 24th from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

A funeral service will follow the visitation at 3:00 p.m. with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.
