Roberta June Reeves of Westernport and most recently of Egle Nursing and  Rehab Center, Lonaconing, MD passed away peacefully on Monday, November 16, 2015 surrounded by her loving family at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland, MD.
Born June 15, 1927 in Bloomington, MD, she was the daughter of the late Guy and Susan (Bittinger) Rawlings. She was preceded in death by her husbands’ Frederick Tichnell, Timothy Kady, Sr. and George Reeves; her sisters Lola Helen and Mary Rawlings and Faye (Rawlings) Walker; and her brothers Orval and Oberlin Rawlings.
Roberta was a graduate of Bruce High School, class of 1944 and was a former owner of Wayne Feed in Piedmont, WV and former employee of Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing. She had recently reunited with many of her co-workers and friends at Egle who she was delighted to see and talk to. Roberta was a woman of deep faith and a member of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport for over sixty years. Her church family was very important to her and she loved each of them dearly.
Roberta is survived by her sister Maye (Rawlings) Seaton, Walkersville, MD; sister-in-law Jeanie (Hinebaugh) Kady, Westernport; special niece Roberta (Bunny) Rawlings, Alabama; children Krista (Kady) Montgomery and husband Rick, Westernport, Tammie (Kady) Smith and husband Bob, Burlington, WV, Tim Kady Jr. and wife Tammy and Mark Kady of Westernport; grandchildren Mike Gurtler and wife Dena, Westernport, Sarina (Smith) Long, Westover, MD,  Lauren (Nikki) Montgomery and boyfriend Justin Colbaugh, Monroeville, PA,  Bobby Smith, Burlington, WV, Jordon Montgomery and girlfriend Kathleen Myers, Martinsburg, WV; great-grandchildren Jonathon George, Emily Gurtler, Westernport, Tristyn Long and Willow Littleton, Westover, MD; step-daughter Debbie Reeves, Texas; her caregivers Krista and Becca Smith; and her special "grandson" Harley Smith of Westernport. Roberta was a loving aunt to her nieces and nephews and each one held a special place in her heart. She had many friends and was known for being kind and friendly and making sure everyone felt welcome at every event she went to. Roberta was a very loving and generous person who was always looking for ways to help others with cards, visits or phone calls. She also had a great sense of humor which she shared with her family, friends and caregivers until the very end.
The family would like to thank the doctors who cared for Roberta over the years; Dr. Sidhu, Dr. Sprenkle; Dr. Mahal, Dr. Mavromatis, Dr. Tice and Dr. Rizal and the doctors, nurses and staff who cared for her recently at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center while she was in P.C.U., I.C.U., the Emergency Department and Observation Unit.  She received incredible, compassionate care from each person she came in contact with and was blessed to have them.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, November 20, 2015 from 3 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will be held at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, Westernport on November 21, 2015 at 11 a.m. with the Rev. Sally Bartling officiating.
Interment will be at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
Serving as pallbearers will be Scott Kady, Bill Kady, Mike Gurtler, Bobby Smith, Jonathon George and Jordon Montgomery.
