Robert Weir

Cumberland, MD

Robert Thomas Weir, 85, formerly of Cunningham Drive, Cumberland, and most recently of Moran Manor Nursing Center, Westernport, passed away Monday, October 21, 2013, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born in Lonaconing on December 16, 1927, he was the son of the late Thomas and Bessie (Broadwater) Weir.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mary Lorraine (Winebrenner) Weir, and a son, Robert Faron Weir.

Mr. Weir was a United States Army Veteran, having served in the Korean War.  He retired from Westvaco Corp, Luke, having worked in the wood yard.

He leaves behind two sons, Kevin Edward Weir and wife Sharon of Rawlings, Keith Weir of Cumberland, a daughter, Vicki Lynn Preston and husband Jesse of Colonial Beach, VA, a sister, Evelyn Weir of New York, ten grandchildren, Joni Simensen, Penny Little, Karen Faust, Ryan Weir, Shawn Weir, Josh Weir, Brandon Weir, Brian Kile, Nathan Kile and Andrew Kile, and ten great grandchildren.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Thursday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Friday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Charles Winebrenner officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland, with military rites accorded by Post 13 Veteran Honor Guard.
