Richard Martin Slider, 83, of Rawlings and Deep Creek Lake, died Thursday September 27, 2012.
Born on November 25, 1928 in Thomas, WV, he is the son of the late Ray and Thelma (Derham) Slider. He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Ray and Robert Slider, and a great granddaughter, Rilynn N. German.
Richard has been the loving husband of Pearl “Pat” (Smiley) Slider for 60 years.
He worked for 30 years for PPG in Cumberland. He was an avid golfer and truly enjoyed the life on Deep Creek Lake. Richard also loved to spend quality time with his family and his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
In addition to his wife “Pat”, he is survived by daughter Deborah Skoog (Jon) of Pittsburgh, PA and son Richard Slider Jr. of Oakland. He is a grandfather to Brittany German (Bill) of Oakland; Dustin Slider (Melinda) of Charleston, SC; Jennifer Landis of Knoxville, TN; and Lauren Skoog of Jackson MS. He is also a great-grandfather of Samantha German and Ethan Presnel, and brother to Rodney and Ronald Slider.
Friends and family will be received at Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Saturday from 6 to 8 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Sunday at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Merle Correll officiating.
Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Barton
