Richard "Rick" Slider Jr.

Richard Martin “Rick” Slider Jr., 58, of McHenry, died August 15, 2013 after a long battle with cancer.

Born on December 10, 1954 in Cumberland, he is the son of Pearl “Pat” Slider of Rawlings and Deep Creek Lake and the late Richard M. Slider.  He was preceded in death by his infant granddaughter, Rilynn Nicole German.

He is survived by his daughter, Brittany (Bill) German of Oakland; his son, Dustin (Melinda) Slider of Charleston, SC; his sister, Debbie (Jon) Skoog of Pittsburgh, PA; his nieces, Jennifer Landis of Knoxville, TN and Lauren Skoog of Charlotte, NC.  He was also a proud grandfather of Samantha and Hudson German, Jacob Slider and Ethan Presnell.

Rick was a 1972 graduate of Bruce High School, and also graduated from Allegany College.  He worked in retail for many years.  He loved to hunt, fish, and ride his Harley Davidson motorcycle.  His favorite pastime was playing with his grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday, August 18th from 4 to 7 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday, August 19th at 10:00 AM, with Pastor Scott Robinson officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

In lieu of flowers, those who desire may make donations to the American Cancer Society.
