Richard Cannon Fram Jr., 85, of Legislative Road, Barton, passed away Thursday, March 28, 2013 at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Lonaconing.

Born July 20, 1927 in Frostburg, he was the son of the late Richard and Eleanor (Krause) Fram Sr.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Garner and Frank Fram and a sister, JoAnn Lynch.

He leaves behind the love of his life for 61 years, Margaret (Bean) Fram, one son, Guy Richard Fram and wife Kim of Cresaptown, one daughter, Pamela Fram Andrews and husband Harold of Salisbury, NC, one granddaughter, Danielle Corriher and husband Graham of Durham, NC, three grandsons, David Andrews of Salisbury, NC, Brison Fram of Cumberland and Matt Fram of San Francisco, CA.  He is also survived by one great grandson, Corbin Fram of Frostburg, a sister, Charlotte Turner of Cumberland and many nieces and nephews.

Mr. Fram graduated from Beall High School, where he played soccer.  He served in the United States Navy.  He graduated from Frostburg State College and West Virginia University with a Bachelor and Masters Degree in mathematics.  He also completed post-graduate studies at Valparaiso University in Valparaiso, IN.  Mr. Fram began his career in education teaching math at Kensington High School in Silver Spring for 2 years.  He then returned to the Georges Creek and taught at Barton High School until its closing and then taught from day one of the opening of Valley High School, Lonaconing, where he eventually became the Vice Principal for a total of 30 years, before retiring in 1982.

He was a member of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Barton.  He was a charter member of the Barton Hose Company, and a Past Commander of Barton American Legion #189, and a member of the Knights of Columbus.  He enjoyed traveling, camping, music and westerns.

As per his wishes, he will be cremated.

There will be no visitation and services will be private.

Inurnment will be in Sunset Memorial Park, Cumberland.

The family would like to extend thanks to all of the staff at Egle Nursing and Rehab Center, Dr. Harjit Sidhu and Dr. Gregg Donaldson, for the wonderful care provided to Richard.

Boal Funeral Home, Barton, was entrusted with arrangements.
