Richard O’Neil Evans, 86, of 422 Vine St, Westernport, passed away Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Martinsburg, WV.

Born December 7, 1926 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Luther and Matilda (Matthews) Evans.  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Estella Mae (Kimes) Evans, a daughter, Karen Sue Evans, two infant siblings, Mary and David Evans, a brother, Harry Evans, and two sisters, Erma Guy and Ollie Morrison.

Mr. Evans was a United States Naval Veteran, having served during World War II.  He retired from CSX Railroad, having been a carman.  He was a member of Westernport United Methodist Church, a life member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, Westernport, a life member of Queens Point V.F.W. #6775, McCoole, a life member of the Disabled American Veterans, and a member of Black Hawk Tribe #131 Loyal Order of Redmen.

He leaves behind two daughters, Sharon Ross and husband Ken of Keyser, WV, Lisa Lloyd of Bunker Hill, WV, a step daughter, Josephine Johnson of Texas, a son, David Evans of Sarasota, FL, two step sons, Larry Sisk of Martinsburg, WV, and Jackie Sisk of Cumberland.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Christina Walters, Raymond L. Ross, Sheri Brinkman, a step granddaughter, Tara Sisk, a special step granddaughter, Jennifer Sisk, six great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Saturday at 11:00 AM, with Pastor Carl Cowan and Pastor Jason Byrd officiating.

Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport, with military honors accorded at graveside.
