Richard Glenn Ahern, 69 of Hammond St, Westernport, passed away Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at his residence.

Born May 1, 1947 in Westernport, he was the son of the late Carlton Roscoe and Sara May (Raines) Ahern.  He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Carlton Ahern Jr. and Harry Ahern and a step son, David Christopher Lutes.

Rich was a United States Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War.  He was a retired employee of the Town of Westernport.  He was a member of Victory Post #155 American Legion, and a catholic by faith in which he was an avid contributor to catholic charities, and a New York Yankee fan.

He leaves behind his wife, Delia “Dee” Ahern, his step sons, Jarrod Lutes of Frostburg, Kenneth Lutes, United States Air Force stationed in Italy, step daughter, Kylie Manwani and husband Alex of LaVale, a brother, Gerald Ahern of Fountain, WV, five sisters, Pat Hartman and husband Jim of Keyser, WV, Carolyn Durst of Fountain, WV, Dottie Miller and husband Dick of Westernport, Dottie Mongold, Sharon Daris and husband Jeff of Westernport.  He is also survived by several nieces and nephews, his step grandchildren, Kya and Kaitlyn Lutes of New York and his special dog “Scruffy”.

At Rich’s request his body was cremated.

A memorial service will be conducted at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Monday, September 12th at 12:00 PM, with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.

Friends and family will be received one hour prior to memorial service on Monday.
