Rev. Charles Joseph Preston, 72, of Barton, changed addresses and went to be with the Lord on Friday, October 19, 2018.

Born August 30, 1946 in Barton, MD he was son of the late John Crawford Preston and Gladys Marie (Moore) Preston. He was also preceded in death by siblings, Allen “Buddy” Preston, Calvin Preston and Donnie Preston, Margaret Jenkins, Hazel Moore, Martha Wilt and twin infant brothers.

Charles was a self-employed welder and a minister. He attended Valley Forge Christian College.  He formerly attended First Assembly of God Church Lonaconing. He was an avid tinkerer, but his passion was ministry.

He leaves behind his wife, Mary Margaret (Kidwell) Preston, siblings, Dale Preston, Helen Preston, John M Preston all of Barton. Step-children; Woodrow “Buddy” Hamilton of Ridgeley, WV, Charles Kevin Hamilton of Cumberland, Wayne A Hamilton of Ridgeley, WV, Earlene Sorrells of Falling Waters, WV, and several grand and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Friends will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Monday, October 22 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9pm. A funeral service will be conducted at the Savage River Full Gospel Church, Savage River, on Tuesday, October 23, at 11am with Rev’s George and Virginia Tichinel officiating. Interment will follow at Restlawn Memorial Gardens, Lavale.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Boal Funeral Home to help defray expenses.
