Raymond Dewey Moorehead, 87, of Poplar St, Westernport, passed away Sunday, September 17, 2017 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born December 8, 1929 in Piedmont, WV, he was the son of the late Dewey Howard and Ethel (Weimer) Moorehead.  He was also precede in death by a great granddaughter, Ally Lease in 2004.

Ray was a graduate of Bruce High School.  He retired from the A & P Supermarket with 35 years of service. After retiring he worked for 20 years at Kenny’s Market in Westernport.  He was a life-long member and served in many capacities of the Westernport Church of the Brethren.  In with keeping him serving his fellow man he had donated over 15 gallons of blood to the American Red Cross.  Ray was well known for being an avid runner.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and football, having been a Baltimore Ravens fan.

He leaves behind his wife Geraldine “Judy” Moorehead, a son, David Moorehead, his daughters, Linda Cleveland, Dianne Hughes and Frank Moscariello, and a sister, Norma Lee Broadwater.  He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jenny Lease and husband Scott, Ryan Cleveland and wife Abby, Andrea Cleveland and Will Hanlin, Brooks Hughes and Hosheanna Hicks, his great grandchildren, Avry Lease, Macie Cleveland and Emry Cleveland.

As per Ray’s request, he was cremated.

There will be no visitation or services.

The family extends special thanks to the staffs at Potomac Valley Hospital, Keyser, WV and Western Maryland Health System for the compassionate care given to Ray during his time there.
