Ramsay MacDonald, 93, formerly of Stoney Run Road, Westernport, and most recently of Community Living Center of the Martinsburg, WV Veterans Hospital, passed away Thursday, April 5, 2018 at the center.
Born September 15, 1924 in Westernport, he was the son of the late John and Jeanne (Murray) MacDonald. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Lois (Kyle) MacDonald on August 13, 2012, a son, Michael MacDonald on February 26, 2018 and six siblings. He was the last survivor of his immediate family.
Ramsay was a United States Army Veteran foot soldier, having served during World War II. He retired from the Town of Westernport with 36 years of service from 1957 to 1993, having been the town Superintendent. He was also a well-known trap shooter and received numerous trophies for that sport as a member of the Lonaconing Trap Club.
He leaves behind his son, Scott MacDonald and wife Sandal of Middletown, VA; his grandchildren, Michael MacDonald Jr., of Barton, Kristy MacDonald of Barton, Misty Thomas of Keyser, WV, Katlynn MacDonald of Fort Ashby, WV; and four great grandchildren.
Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 4 to 7 PM. A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 AM, with Rev. James Kyle officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
