Pearl Louise Kager, 80, of College Park, Maryland, died Tuesday, September 10, 2013.

She was born to the late James and Gertrude Walker, Jul. 12, 1933, in Piedmont, WV.  Pearl attended Howard High School.  She married Richard Kager in 1953, and lived together at the Roosevelt Roads U.S. Naval Base in Puerto Rico before relocating to Washington, DC and College Park, MD.

Pearl was an audio technician for the Washington, DC Government until she retired in 1989.  She was passionate about helping others and was affectionately known as Aunt Pearl to neighbors as well as Family.

Pearl was an active member of Brown Memorial A.M.E. Church, The Eastern Star, and The Altruists.  She loved to travel and took many trips with her husband and family in her lifetime.

Pearl is survived by husband: Richard Kager of College Park, MD; two sons: Richard “Ricky” Kager and Roger Kager of College Park, MD; three nieces she helped raise as daughters: Sondra Hill of Piedmont, WV, Susan Blow of Las Vegas, NV and Tanya Corbin of Columbia, MD; one granddaughter: India Lowrance of Virginia Beach, VA; one grandson-in-law: Shaun Lowrance of Virginia Beach, VA; one great-grandson: Evan Lowrance of Virginia Beach, VA; one sister: Helen Hines of Piedmont, WV; and one brother: Leon Garland of Piedmont, WV  She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.

A viewing will be held at 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday at the Boal Funeral Home in Westernport, MD.  The Home-Going Service will be held at 1 p.m. on Friday at Boal Funeral Home.  Burial will be held immediately after at Thorn Rose Cemetery in Keyser, WV.
