Patricia Hays

Patricia (Schramm) Hays, 90, of Westernport, MD, passed away on August 28, 2026.

Born July 8, 1936 to the late Lester Schramm and Donna (Snyder) Schramm, Patricia was also preceded in death by her husband, Phillip William “Bill” Hays in 2022; and her sister, Norma Connor.

She is survived by her children, Brian Hays and wife Leda of Pittsburgh, PA, Heather Hays of Cresson, PA, and Stephen Hays and wife Doni of Bluemont, VA; and sister-in-law, Regina Schramm. Patty is also survived by her grandchildren, Sarah Hays, Gillian Hays, Abigail Hays, Sophia Hays, Rachel Poorman and husband Matt, Alex Hays, and Caitlyn Hays; and her great-grandchildren, Caden Chelednik, Logan Kaufman, and Oliver Sunday. Patty enjoyed her time with her beloved cats, Moses and Amos.

Patty loved her family and especially enjoyed the time they spent together; family game nights were her favorite. She found joy in watching and feeding the birds and deer. A huge movie fan, she cherished spending an evening watching old films. She attended Catherman’s Business School and later worked as a secretary at the Luke Paper Mill until 1962, when she married her husband Bill. Following their marriage, Patricia devoted her time to caring for her children and her family. As the years went on, spending time with those she loved remained one of her greatest joys.

In accordance with her wishes, funeral services will be private.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Friends of Felines and Ferals at 113 Armstrong Street, Keyser, West Virginia.
