Mildred Eileen James, 96, of Lashley Drive, Frostburg, formerly of Lonaconing, passed away Sunday, April 26, 2015 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center, Cumberland.

Born February 25, 1919 in Lonaconing, she was the daughter of the late Alvie F. and Leda F. (Andrews) Green.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Melvin James, and two brothers, Willard H. Green, and Gordon A. Green.

Mrs. James was a 1936 graduate of Central High School, Lonaconing, and a 1938 graduate of Potomac State College, Keyser, WV.  She also attended the University of Maryland.  Mildred was a retired office manager for Cumberland Office Supply.  She was an avid sports participant at Central High School, a member of the Central Alumni Association, a member of Georges Creek Senior Center, a former member of the former Alvin C. Neat V.F.W., Lonaconing, and a member of First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.

She leaves behind two daughters, Rheba Snyder and husband William “Butch” Snyder of Frostburg, Mary Aleda Evans and companion Greg Mathews of Frostburg, three grandchildren, Todd Snyder and wife Julie of Frostburg, Chris Snyder and companion Jeni Lekites and her son, Clayton of Parsonsburg, and Missy Krukowsky and husband Tom of Cresaptown, two great grandchildren, Bryce and Sydney Snyder.  She is also survived by her niece, Kay Ann Lannon of Keyser, WV, and her nephew, Gordon Green of Bloomington.  Mildred was also “Grandma Up The Road” to Molly, Linda, Logan, Carrie, Ryan, Ronnie and Lesley.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Memorial Chapel, Barton, on Tuesday, April 28th from 5 to 8 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the Boal Chapel on Wednesday, April 29th at 10:30 AM, with Rev. Thomas Morgan officiating.

Interment will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery, Moscow Mills.

The family would like to thank Lisa Twigg and Carol Green for their compassionate care and friendship given to their mother which helped in her daily routine.  Also thanks to Dr. Boyd Sprenkle and staff, Winchester Retina Center, especially Dr. Eric Steurer and staff and to Barbara Pyle and staff of the LaVale Primary Care Center.  Thanks also to the ER doctors and the staff PCU at Western Maryland Regional Health Center, especially Sam, Tammy, Amy, Doug and Paula for the excellent care during her brief stay.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, Lonaconing.
