Michael Raymond Andrew “Mike” Beckner, 69, of Westernport went to be with our Lord on April 16, 2026.
Born in Cumberland, on September 17, 1956, he was the oldest son of the late Raymond and Vernoica (Winner) Beckner. He was also preceded in death by his son Leslie Aloysious “Al” Beckner; a nephew Aaron Beckner; and grandparents Harry and Nellie Beckner and Vernard and Kathleen Winner.
Mike was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church, and the Knights of Columbus. He attended St. Peter’s Catholic School, Bishop Walsh High School, and graduated from Bruce High School in 1974.
As a youth, Mike was a member of the Cub Scouts and later the Boy Scouts, where he enjoyed camping and fishing. Mike participated in Little League, Pony League, and high school baseball, as well as Little League and high school football.
Following graduation from high school, Mike entered the United State Air Force (1974-1978) and was a member of the American Legion Victory Post #155. After his service, Mike attended Allegany College while simultaneously volunteering at the Tri-Towns Rescue Squad. Mike joined the Allegany County Sherriff’s Department for a short time. He then worked at the former Sacred Heart Hospital for 32 years. He was employed with the United Cerebral Palsy before his retirement.
Mike is survived by his wife of 25 years, Etta King Beckner; son, James Likens and wife Laura; siblings Joseph Beckner and wife Margiue, Linda Davis-Kyle and husband Gene, Janet Morris and husband Jim, and Tom Beckner and wife Rhonda; grandchildren, Dominic, Donna, and Montana Likens; and numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. The most special loves of Mikes life were his little ones - Odie, Obie, Goose, OJ, Frank, Tiger, Newt and Buddy Beckner – sorry Etta!
As per Mike’s request, there will be no funeral services and he will be cremated. Also, per Mike’s request, “Put me on the damn mantle!”
