Melvin Eugene “Buck” Broadwater, 77, of Cross,WV passed away on September 12, 2026.
Born May 28, 1949, he was the son of the late Charles Melvin and Margaret Elizabeth (Sisk) Broadwater. He was also preceded in death by his sisters, Helen Stahl and Wilma Cosner; and a bonus son, Justin Diehl.
Throughout Bucks working years, he operated heavy equipment for Masteller Coal and D & L Coal companies. He drove a truck for Jones Trucking and in recent years he worked in the quarry for the Almari Stone Company.
An avid outdoorsman, he especially enjoyed deer hunting, although in his younger days, he was known to hunt it all. He was always tinkering with something and particularly enjoyed working on cars.
Music was also a big part of Buck’s life. A talented steel guitar player, he played with several local bands throughout the years. Above all, he was a devoted family man. His family meant the world to him, and the time spent with those he loved was always most important.
Buck is survived by his loving wife, Nancy (Poole) Broadwater; his loving daughter, Stephanie Holdren and Larry; and his bonus daughters, Wenona Trexler and Donnie, and Marlo Diehl. Buck is survived by one sister, Doris “Dee” Dawson and Bob. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Brittany Baker, Justin Baker and Kailee, Logan Baker and Brooke; bonus grandchildren, Zack Trexler, Tyler Trexler, Kayla Johnson, Brooke Lancaster, Destiny Swick, Travis Miller, and Wyatt Yoak; and his great grandchildren, Daxtyn Kesner, Beckett Baker; numerous bonus great grandchildren; numerous nieces, cousins and extended family members.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Friday, September 18th from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m.
A funeral service will take place at the Boal Funeral Home on Saturday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Elk District Ambulance Service, Elk Garden, WV.
Interment will be at Tasker Cemetery, Cross, WV.
