Melanie (Hanna) Martin, 69 of Frostburg, MD and formerly of Beryl, WV passed away after a battle with a rare blood disease.
Born April 16, 1957, she was the daughter of the late James T. and Ada (Fazenbaker) Hanna. She was also preceded in death by her brother-in-law, Michael Niland.
Melanie was a graduate of Piedmont High School. She was once employed with Martin Brother’s Concrete and she retired from Potomac Valley Hospital after 25 years as a surgical technician. Among her many interests was her beloved collection of teapots, which she carefully gathered and treasured through the years.
Melanie would have been married to her husband Jim for 31 years on July 8th. She was a devoted and loving wife who cared for her husband with unwavering love and dedication. Melanie had a heart big enough for everyone she met. Always willing to lend a helping hand, she rarely ever said no to someone in need. Melanies kindness, generosity and compassion touched countless of lives.
Melanie is survived by her husband of 31 years, James “Jim” Martin; her siblings, Tally Hanna and wife Kathy, and Rebecca Niland. She is also survived by her nieces and nephews, Lynette Niland, Ryan Niland, Greg Hanna, and Angela Suesse; and numerous great nieces and great nephews.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Thursday, July 9th from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. A funeral service will take place following the visitation at 1:00 p.m. with Deacon Harold Bradley officiating.
Interment will be next to her parents at Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
