Maxine Louise Marsh, 81, of Frostburg Village Nursing Home and formerly of Westernport, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014, at the nursing home.
Born in Piedmont, WV on December 6, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Arthur and Bessie Fisher. She was also preceded in death by a brother Bobbie Fisher, a sister Virginia Fisher, a son James Marsh and a grandchild Cherie Marsh.
She graduated from Piedmont High School in 1951. She was co-owner and manager of Marsh Construction, later Marsh Coal. She was also owner and manager of Maxine’s Cards and Gifts in the Tri-Towns Plaza. She worked as a house parent at Burlington Children’s Home and later finished her career at Steve’s Pharmacy in Bel Air.
Maxine was known for her kind heart and great spirit. She loved spending time with her family and sharing her wonderful bread and homemade pies. Her laughter and love will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
She is survived by daughter Linda Summerfield and husband Jamie, son Matthew “Herk” Marsh and wife Jackie, and daughter-in-law, Regina Marsh. She is also survived by her eight grandchildren; Kelley Marsh, Russell Goode, Brian Marsh, Michelle McDougal, Andrew Summerfield, Julie Summerfield, Sabrina Boolman and Josh Marsh, and five great grandchildren.
Friends will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport on Saturday from 6 to 8 pm and Sunday from 12:30 to 1:30 pm. A funeral service will be conducted on Sunday at 1:30 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Diane May officiating.
Interment will be in Philos Cemetery, Westernport.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association or the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s Research.
