Mary Catherine Lewis

Westernport, MD

Mary Catherine Lewis, 81, of New Georges Creek Road, Westernport, passed away Friday, March 20, 2015 at her residence with her brother, sister and children who took care of her by her side.  She will be reunited with her husband, son and other family members that went before her.

Born July 10, 1933 in Westernport, she was the daughter of the late Walter Laupert and Alwilda (Brooks) Laupert Sutherland.  She was also preceded in death by her husband, Albert R. Lewis, a son, Thomas R. Lewis Sr., a brother-in-law, Kenneth Derham, a sister-in-law, Bridget Laupert, a nephew, Andy Laupert, and her step father, Howard Sutherland.

Mrs. Lewis was a homemaker.  She enjoyed camping and floating the South Branch River.  She was also an avid fan of professional wrestling.

She was always smiling, loved by everyone, and loved her children and grandchildren.

She leaves behind a son, James C. Lewis Sr. and Diane of Keyser, WV, two daughters, Libby Lewis and companion, Roger Kesner of Keyser, WV, Laura Lynne Miller and husband Tim of Westernport, a brother, Edward Laupert of Westernport, and a sister, Dottie Sterling and husband Raymond of Westernport.  She is also survived six grandchildren, T.J. Lewis Jr., Stacy Rembold, J.C. Lewis Jr., Travis Moreland, Derek Wolford and Brandon Miller, seven great grandchildren, and her faithful companions Bandit and Callie.

Friends and family will be received at the Boal Funeral Home, Westernport, on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM.  A funeral service will be conducted at the funeral home chapel on Monday at 1:00 PM, with Rev. Raymond Sterling officiating.

Interment will be in Potomac Memorial Gardens, Keyser, WV.

The family extends a thanks to the Western Maryland Hospice for the compassionate care given to Catherine during her last days. Thank you to everyone that prayed for her, as she felt the prayers enabled her to spend her last days at home. Thank you to all of her doctors, especially Dr. Matyasik and Dr. Schroff.
